These are the bigger, stronger, and faster variants of their counterparts. You can tame them, breed them, and ride them into combat! However, not every alpha can access boss arenas. They tend to come in shades of grey, white, black, and red/pink. Males spawn with red coloring whereas females spawn with pink. Both have a red aura. Females by design of the mod are harder to find than males.
Alpha creatures have a bleed damage that can be countered by feeding the dino you're riding wyvern milk. You can also drink wyvern milk yourself to block the bleed damage if you're on foot. Bosses and Primordials take no bleed damage from alpha creatures if they have an Improved Saddle.

Taming[]
Alphas can be tamed using the preferred kibble of their normal counterpart. K.O. or Passive Taming is possible for most alpha creatures. There is a level requirement for Passive Taming. Alpha Herbivore Helmet and Alpha Carnivore Helmet can be used to avoid aggro until provoking.
Compound Bow with Poison Metal Arrow work best for knocking out these creatures. Sedatives are potent Narcotics that refill torpidity AND starve them. Xeno Kibble can be substituted for preferred food.
Special saddles are required to mount alphas.
Please note that the Gigantopithicus is listed as "Bigfoot" in the creature guide below. This is the exact copy from the official Creature Guide and should be left as accordingly.

Creature Notes[]
- Megalodon becomes a level one creature when transferring arks or downloading from a Terminal. In this state the UI for the dino no longer updates health, food, stamina, or torpidity. as of 1.5.0
- Alpha Sarcosuchus are unable to leave the Ark they are tamed on as the Terminal does not see them, and you do not get the portion of the display that shows buffs on the dino like a feeding trough, name, or mate boost. as of 1.6.0
- Alpha Tusoteuthis consume kibble during taming as individual black pearls and at a worse taming rate, approximately 1/3 the taming progress as Black Pearls as of 1.5.0
